Introduction

Currently, there are 1.3 billion people in the world who do not have access to electricity particularly in developing countries. It is also true that many countries like India and China are industrializing quickly which is increasing the World’s consumption and demand for electricity. An article written by Richard Gray, a science journalist for over 15 years, for BBC Future, entitled, “The Biggest Energy Challenges Facing Humanity ” mentions how scientists agree that our use of coal and oil contributes to climate change and how we need to change our habits before we do more harm to our planet. He also suggests that we can meet this new demand for electricity while also thinking of our planet, coming to the same conclusion that I did— by using renewable resources like wind, hydroelectricity, or solar energy. Establishing these renewable energy technologies could help mitigate the many burdens fossil fuels have caused.
